쿠바혁명의 상징, Che Guevara.
본명은 Ernesto Guevara de La Serna이다.

아르헨티나 태생인 그는 젊은 시절 세상을 돌아보기 위해 여행을 떠났고,
그런 여정 중 멕시코에서 피델 카스트로를 만나기도 한다.
그의 젊은 시절 여정에 대해서는 2004년 영화 “모터사이클 다이어리”가 잘 묘사하고 있다.

그리고 그는 피델과 뜻을 같이하여,
쿠바의 해방을 위해 혁명전선에 뛰어들었고 오랜 전투 끝에 쿠바의 혁명을 이끌어낸다.

이후 쿠바의 시민이 되어 장관 등을 역임하며 UN에서 남미 국가의 실상과 해방의 시급성을 역설하기도 했던 그는 어느 날 홀연히 사라진다.
오랜 친구이자 동지인 피델에게 다음과 같은 말을 남기고 …

“Hasta La Victoria Simepre …” (영원히 승리할 때까지)

피델에게 편지 한 장을 남기고 사라진 그의 소식이 들려온 곳은 바로 그의 고향 볼리비아였다.
그는 볼리비아의 해방을 위해 게릴라 부대를 조직하여 다시 전투를 시작하였던 것이다.

그리고 1967년 10월에 그는 볼리비아 정부군에 생포되어 처형된 것으로 알려져있다.    

그런 그를 위해 쿠바의 작곡자 Carlos Puebla는 “Hasta Simepre, Comandante Che Guevara”라는 시를 썼고 또 이를 노래로 만들어 불렀다.

이후 이 노래는 수많은 이들에 이해 불려졌고 최근까지도 여전히 Che Guevara를 기리는 대표적인 노래가 되었다.

이 노래는 여러 영화에서 불려지기도 했는데 1999년 영화 “Buena Vista Social Club”에서는 쿠바 뮤지션들의 생생한 목소리로 이 노래를 들을 수 있다.

오늘의 가사 검열을 위해 준비한 첫 번째 동영상은 프랑스 출신 여가수 Nathalie Cardone가 1999년에 발표한 앨범에 수록된 버전의 뮤비이고,
두 번째 동영상은 그리스의 뮤지션 George Dalaras와 기타의 달인 Al Di Meola가 함께 한 버젼의 뮤비와 노래이다.

가사는 스페인어와 영어를 준비하였고, 검열은 영어 가사를 번역하였다.
